Views of the Moon from UPLB Physics Division's Telescope and More Pictures From Our Sky-Viewing

February 11 Wednesday Night from 8:30 PM to 12:00 AM. Ginamit namin yung sobrang bigat na telescope, about 100 kilos of metal (the mount) para itapat sa buwan at makita ang features nito. Kasama ito sa activities ng APHY 191 (Special Topic: Relativistic Astrophysics) na tinuturo ni Prof. Allan Alinea.

Dahil nga sobrang bigat nahirapan kami sa pagbubuhat. At dahil dun, hehe, linibre kami ni Sir Allan ng KFC! Naki-jamming din sina Prof. Florido (na judge sa Star in Carillion) at Sir Ian sa viewing.

Sobrang saya talaga. Nung gabing yon, nakita namin, bukod sa parts ng moon, ang rings ng Saturn at isang moon nito (sorry, di nakunan ng pic ang bilis kasi mawala sa view, unstable kasi yung mount). Ganun ka powerful yung 'scope.

this is nice... ano diameter ng mirror? this is the scope na thesis ni Jan Sembrano, right?

may i ask if may balita/balak magtayo ng astro soc sa UPLB? if yes, willing to join (although teacher na nga lang ako) para may makasama rin for telescope viewing (have a smaller 6" scope, nakatambay rin that night sa febfair)

Hindi po. Eto yung telescope na ginawa mula don sa mirror na binigay ng Phil. Astro. Soc.

Napag-usapan na din namin ni Sir Allan yung astrosoc sa elbi. Feeling ko nga din madami sasali.

Ah, okay. So kayo yung may telescope dun sa fair grounds? Hindi ko po alam yung eksaktong specs nung mirror ng telescope. Pero ang alam ako e, dobsonian type, tapos 5th largest siya sa pinas.

Si Sir Allan Alinea, meron po siyang Celestron telescope.
